About Us Our History
Presbyterian Church of the Lakes was founded in 1979, to povide a Reformed presence in the growing Southwest Orange County area. In 1992 we expanded our facilities, enlarging the sanctuary and building a new Christian Education building. We embarked in new areas of ministry, Christian education, service, and mission in the community and in the world. We are a church with a strong sense of caring for one another; where we are growing as brothers and sisters in Christ, and where the Word of God is alive and active. The people in the church are excited about the future, about what we are doing, excited about what we are becoming!
Part of the "story" of PCOL is the wooden cross which is so prominent in the sanctuary. As we planned for the expansion of the sanctuary, we knew there was a steel column that could not be moved. That column has become the cross. The column holds up the building; the cross holds up the church.
Presbyterian Church of the Lakes is currently affiliated with the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. but continues as a conservative congregation which continues to challenge the liberal movements occuring within the denomination today.
